Abstract

Epoxy resins are the prepolymers containing more than one oxirane ring in the structure. Under the curing process, epoxy resins are capable of being converted into crosslinked or thermoset plastics. The importance of epoxy resins is underscored due to their high thermal, chemical and dimensional resistance and also their low thermal expansion. The resins thermal resistance is related to their structures, curing agent, chloride content and  curing reaction. Epoxy resins have attracted remarkable attention by growing high demand
of such materials in various industrial sectors such as aerospace industry. In this paper, polymer thermal degradation and resin retrofitting against heat is studied by production of composites with nanoparticles, heat resistant polymer blends and functionalization of the epoxy resins
